The loaded display driver radeon is provided by xf86-video-ati. The unloaded
modesetting display driver is the upstream default and newer technology. It may
perform better. To try, uninstall xf86-video-ati and xorg-x11-driver-video and
restart X or reboot. If it doesn't help and you wish to switch back, only
xf86-video-ati needs to be reinstalled. xorg-x11-driver-video is a metapackage
that loads your system with drivers for GPUs you're unlikely ever to need.
sudo zypper rm --clean-deps xorg-x11-driver-video
will remove xf86-video-*, but if you do that you should reinstall the failsafe /
emergency fallbacks
xf86-video-vesa
xf86-video-fbdev
and if you choose, also xf86-video-ati.
