Hello Fred,
you are right, both i586 and the x86_64 version for openSuse 10.2 are compiled
without OpenGL. Previously I compiled the i586 version with OpenGL support,
mainly because I was able to do that myself on my machine, and a special hack
(installing the nvidia driver into the chroot before compiling) was needed;
the other versions (64bit and i586 for openSuse 10.2) were compiled by Detlef
on my request, and he did not want to mess with chroot this way :)
Furthermore, I got complaints from non-NVidia users that OpenGL-enabled
Cinelerra refuses to work for them. (it must be driver issues, or a hard
dependency on OpenGL 2.0, which at least Mesa claims not to support for now)
I do not think OpenGL would speed up playback in your case. As far as I know,
OpenGL is used only for speeding up some effects plugins.
If you nevertheless wish to try an OpenGL-enabled version of Cinelerra, the
easiest solution (though not the best one) is to manually download and
install the RPM for Suse 10.1.
I am considering providing both RPMs of the newer versions of Cinelerra. I
think I will update the RPM soon; right now we are working on setting up an
internal unified build system like the BuildService; this will make the
future builds much easier, but makes us a bit busy at the moment. So stay
tuned ;)
Regards
Leon
