don't know, I have no 64bit  machines at the moment.

yes you can compile, like every other program

don't know, I use SuSE and have no experiences with debian nor ubuntu nor 
kubuntu.

just a note: vivia is at the moment unmaintained, I can't get it to compile 
with the actual ffmpeg. And the author has not time to work on the program. 
So perhaps look for a newer alternative. Vivia is a good program, but as long 
as it don't follow ffmpeg changes it is a "show" stopper for the upgrade path 
of other programs.
