[packman] chromium and chromium-ffmpeg

I am confused. Why do we have two(!) Chromium versions, one in Leap 42.1 and one Packman. 
Why do I get signed the update for the leap version while having the packman version installed???
Does that mean that the Packman version is not maintained? 
I have to use the chromium-ffmpeg versions due to compatibility reasons with a website I use. Is it save to use the packman chromium version (in terms of security patches)?
