[packman] did api URL change ?

Oh - right,  but the machine redirects the access to the.de address -
not that it matters here. Just my source of confusion.

As you seem to have success to connect to the machine, my next though
would be the certificate verification. Do you see any errors in the API
log around the time you see the connection error?
Do you have the CAcert root certificates imported to your local trust
store? For openSUSE there is the package ca-certificates-cacert.
