Yes, I find that strange as well (that it builds fine for Factory and 12.2).
 And I guess that's the reason why they didn't fix it yet in multimedia:libs.
Maybe a bugreport is necessary? ;)

I don't have the time right now to fix this, but it should be quite easy (just 
add some return statements....)

But, as I said, IMHO this should  be fixed in multimedia:libs directly, or 
even VLC upstream.
