OK, but for how long?

And what about the legacy driver versions?

Does nvidia-settings-325 work with the G02 or G01 driver?
Will nvidia-settings-400 work with the G02 (or even G03 then ;) ) driver?

IMHO this is just a can of worms.

This package should not be there in an installable form in Packman in my 
opinion, since it just overwrites files of the official driver.

I just want to express my concerns here...
