Detlef, Thank you for the fast reply,

rpm -qf /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/glib/__init__.py returns
	python-gobject2-2.28.6-15.1.x86_64
According to yast this was from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/python/openSUSE_11.4/

removed python-gobject2-2.28.6-15.1.x86_64 with yast, new error
--------------snip-------------
  File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/miro/startfrontend.py", line 86,
in run_application
    raise ValueError("Cannot load frontend: %s" % frontend)
ValueError: Cannot load frontend: widgets

Re-installed python and python-gtk... from suse official repos
	(had been using
	/devel:/languages:/python/openSUSE_11.4/
	for the python-gtk packages)

Miro seems to work as expected now!

In any event, it seems my problems were caused by (operator error and)
python-gobject2 and python-gtk packages from
/devel:/languages:/python/openSUSE_11.4/

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I struggled with this
problem all weekend.

One curiosity,
	rpm -qf /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/glib/__init__.py now reports
	"error: file /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/glib/__init__.py:
	No such file or directory"
Is that expected?

Thank you for your help

See ya
dh
