Looks like this is not relevant:

I have now replaced:
libmythui-0.21.so.0.21.0
libmythtv-0.21.so.0.21.0
mythfrontend

with the versions I built and the remote control works again.

So it looks looks like only the build dependencies are not correct for lirc
