* Check your gstreamer packages, only packman gstreamer packages should be 
installed (they contain a X.pm.Y in release tag, e.g. 42.pm.1)

==> rpm -qa | grep gst

especially for mp3 sound you'll need gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 package.

* And check the log files in your /tmp folder, they are prefixed with elisa-*

* what kind of graphic adapter are you using ?

* is compiz running ? if so, disable it and try elisa again.
