Hello packman team

(Please tell me if there is a mailing list I should address instead of this
address. I decided to turn to you first, before going to xvid.org)

I'm having problems with the xvid library on a recently installed SUSE 10.1.
When I install it, the picture disappears and I get only sound. This happens
with all players and video formats (mpeg etc).

More detailed:

1) Install SUSE 10.1.
- can play "free" video files with kaffeine

2) Install libxine1 and w32codec-all from your repository :-)
- still everything works
- mp3, divx, xvid... works

3) Install mplayer, which also requires xvid (libxvidcore.so.4 to be precise)
- after this, everything works as before, both on kaffeine and now also on
mplayer

4) reboot
- Now there is no picture on any video format on any player. Totem gives an
error msg, which I didn't write down. Others just play the video file with
sound-only.

5) uninstall xvid (and mplayer, since it won't start without)
- still sound only

6) reboot
- Now kaffeine works again

I also tested with an xvid 1.0 library I downloaded from rpmseek.com. And it
behaves the same.

After quick googling it seems things work great for others. Do you have any
ideas what I could do to make things work?

I also thought I could rebuild mplayer to not depend on libxvidcore, but there
are too many requirements to start doing that just on a whim.

It seems mplayer works better than kaffeine as a plugin for firefox, so I'm
interested in debugging this further if I can find someone who's interested in
helping me out.
