Hello,

I have run audacious since forever and it was working fine this
morning. After I applied normal updates to my openSUSE 13.2 system
today, including those for MPlayer and gmplayer, launching audacious
instantly locks up the desktop with load average climbing quickly to
~3.9+

updated to:
     MPlayer-1.1.1.r37379-1.1.x86_64
     gmplayer-1.1.1.r37379-1.1.x86_64
from:
     MPlayer-1.1.1.r37373-2.1.x86_64
     gmplayer-1.1.1.r37373-2.1.x86_64

audacious installed:
     audacious-3.6-3.1.x86_64
     audacious-plugins-extra-3.6-2.2.x86_64
     audacious-plugins-lang-3.6-2.2.noarch
     audacious-lang-3.6-3.1.noarch
     audacious-plugins-3.6-2.2.x86_64

I reverted all of the updated packages to their prior versions --
*except* zypper says MPlayer & gmplayer 1.1.1.r37373-2.1 are no longer
available -- and the behavior is unchanged. In addition, while exploring
(hopefully temporary) alternatives to audacious for playing .mp3 files,
I have discovered that gmplayer/MPlayer is unable to play them:
