  I do NOT find kdenlive broken (at least not on openSUSE-11.2).

I have kdenlive 0.7.8 running ok on my 64-bit openSUSE-11.2 PC.  My 
packages:
* kde4-kdenlive-0.7.8-1.pm.1.1.x86_64
* libmlt2-0.5.10-1.pm.1.2.x86_64
* mlt-0.5.10-1.pm.1.2.x86_64
* python-mlt-0.5.10-1.pm.1.2.x86_64
* libmlt++3-0.5.10-1.pm.1.2.x86_64

Give me 1/2 hour and I'll check it out on my openSUSE-11.3 PC.
