Bob, wrong assumption.
Of course we do not copy metadata as-is from 10.1 to 10.0.

You are most probably using smart-0.42-13 (check with "rpm -q smart").
That release had a bug because of a patch submitted by someone.

Upgrade smart to 0.42-14, fixes the bug.

If you use the smart package from the Build Service [1], I think it
still has the bug, so better switch to my smart package in the "guru"
repository.
